You’ve trained for 5 years to be a Vet, been exposed to some wild experiences whilst at Vet School and you think you’re prepared for private practice.
But being out there in your first Vet job may not be living up to your expectations. The long hours, sometimes rude clients and your lack of experience may make you feel like you have made the wrong choice and it may make you question your decision to be a vet.
Ask yourself some questions…
- Are you getting the support you need from your peers and colleagues at your practice to make you feel like you’re doing a good job?
- Are you being praised by your team for the things you’re doing right and well?
- Do you feel down as you don’t feel like you know what you’re doing and you’re not getting the support to understand how to do a better job?
After spending the best part of 5 years at Vet school it’s very doubtful that you have chosen the wrong career, probably just the wrong place to take your first vet job.
